Naval Station Norfolk, NAS Oceana
and NAB Little Creek
1. From my N1 folks who
attended, the training was superb.
2. The presentation provided on 8 November was excellent. The
presenters were funny at times but still able to make traffic safety
a very serious matter. The flyer stated that it was for teens but I
think it was beneficial to junior sailors and leadership alike.
3. That was some the best training that I have ever received
concerning traffic safety. It was neat to have real paramedics giving
the training. Superb Training.
4. All I heard from my guys, and I was there as well, is WOW. That
training got their attention. The speakers held the audience's
attention better than NASCAR!
5. I found the presentation to be very informative and it was good to
see the outcome of people making the wrong decisions. The graphic
presentation of the end results is a great way for people to
understand. Lastly, I really liked how they walked through what the
medical staff would do if they found you in an accident of this kind.
I thank you for allowing me to be able to provide some feedback.
6. This training was excellent and I believe was an eye opening for
many provided the perspective and focus of the training. The
instructors were excellent and presented the topic in a realistic
manner adding just a touch of humor to keep things light considering
the gravity of what can happen as a result of "making poor choices."
Additionally, the timing of the presentation couldn't be better i.e.
just prior to the start of the holiday season. Hopefully, the timing
will mitigate any potential incidents due to someone seeing this
training.
7. The Street Smart training was very informative and graphic. This
training really had Sailors attentive to what was happening. Street
Smart highlighted the importance of not drinking and driving and
getting proper rest before traveling on trips. Also, the role playing
was very effective and enhanced the training. I highly recommend more
training be conducted like "Street Smart" that will keep Sailors
attention and make them think before making a decision that could
affect their lives.
8. I really enjoyed the Street Smart presentation. I have heard
nothing but great things about it from the personnel at my command.
The facilitators did an outstanding job in keeping the attention and
interest of everyone in attendance. Although very graphic I believe
the pictures are what made this real for most of us. The only
suggestion I could make would be to add some statistics about the
affects of speeding with regards to traffic accidents. This is still
one of the best presentations I have attended.
9. To be perfectly honest, that had to be the best driving safety
training I have been too. It was straight forward, getting to the
point on how serious the consequences were, along with some sense of
humor to keep the audience alive and focused. The pictures may be
stomach turning to some, but I think it's necessary to get the point
across that survival is minimal. Keep up the outstanding training,
and the lives that may be saved from it!
10. Damn good training. Everyone thought it was great. No feedback to
give to make it better. The training was already planned out great.
11. Overall the presentation was very good and took on a "scared
straight" persona which I think is a better attention getter for
young Sailors/Seabee's. The one thing was that it seemed everything
they showed was the one who caused the accidents. They should also
show the victims (the innocent folks or families that were killed or
injured) involved due to the drunk driver or speeder. Show them not
only what they can do to themselves but what they can do to innocent
families too. Thanks.
12. I just received this encouraging email about how it affected one
of our members in the squadron. I feel the comments could be useful
to you if you share them with the CO of the base and the Street Smart
people in order to encourage its use every year. I feel it is a very
valuable tool and should be applied yearly at a minimum. "I really
enjoyed today's street smart presentation. The presentation was
unlike any presentation I have ever attended. Last years naval
statistics of personnel fatalities were breath taking and could have
been avoided. I never really took in to account the importance of
this topic. I rarely ever wear my seatbelt when riding as a passenger
in the back of a vehicle. This presentation changed my perspective on
this matter. I don't have a valid answer to why I never made the
smart choice to wear a seatbelt when riding as a passenger. I have
been really lucky. Luck unfortunately does not last forever. This
presentation really opened my eyes. The presentation was more than
informative; it was a real life changing event. I believe that the
topics discussed had a connection with 90% of my peer group. The
presentation demonstrated why smart choices are important through
various scenarios. The real picture fatalities where an outstanding
physical aid. Death can be grueling and this presentation showed why
we should make important decisions. The instructors where very well
prepared and never loss the audiences attention. I would greatly
recommend this presentation to anyone".
